Maine Attraction Assembly Instructions
Tools
required: electric drill; framing or similar square; 7/16” wrench or
socket and ratchet; square drive screwdriver or bit for drill; and a
hammer.
All Maine Attraction displays have the
perimeter cedar boards pre-drilled with a ¼” hole(s) where the legs are to
be attached. The legs have not been drilled due to variations in moisture
content of the cedar that affects the size of the pieces and therefore the
accuracy of the holes. A 6” long ¼” wood bit is supplied with each order
for drilling the legs. Most tables have one bolt in the front and rear and
two bolts on the sides (of each leg). Hold the appropriate leg up to the
corner of the table using a square if necessary to align the leg. Place the
drill bit into the hole of the board and continue drilling through the leg.
Drill the hole as straight as possible, avoiding drilling at an angle. You
may want to drill just one hole in a leg and bolt the leg with one bolt
before drilling the other holes. The single bolt will help hold the leg to
drill the other holes. Push a 4” carriage bolt from the outside through to
the inside of the leg. Tap with a hammer if necessary to drive the bolt
head flush with the wood. Place a flat washer
and nut on the threads and tighten until the bolt head starts to pull into
the cedar.
End Caps: The front legs only have one notch and attach to the front board where the holes have been predrilled. (photo at right) The rear legs attach on the corners the same as other single tier tables. Use a diagonal brace on the front legs as shown in the last photo of the instructions.
Two-Tier: Install
the front two legs on the bottom tier as described above. The front
of the bottom tier does not have notches cut into the wire.
Remove the board from the bottom tier (where the wire mesh has been cut to
accommodate the legs). There are screws in both the support boards and into
the wire mesh that need to be removed. Insert the rear legs into the slots
where the wire has been cut out. The legs may need to be tapped into place
with a hammer.
Re-attach
the rear board with the screws that you removed. Drill and bolt the legs
the same as the front ones were done. Install the top tier by drilling and
bolting as the other legs were done. Install the diagonal braces on the
rear legs on top of the bottom tier and under the top tier as shown in the
top photo on the right. One screw is put into the edge of the brace and two
on the side. (see last photos of instructions)
Octagon
Tables: The leg spacing of
octagon tables is different than other Maine Attractions.
6’ Tables: There are 6 legs for each 6’ octagon table. Four of the legs attach at the intersection of the outside of the table with the cross support boards as shown in the photo on the right. These four legs are notched on two sides. The other two legs have only one notch and attach as in the photo on the left. Octagon tabes are supplied with one diagonal brace for each leg or they may be doubled up where the legs are most likely to be kicked.
4’
Tables:
There are 4 legs for 4’ tables and they are located in
the centers of four opposite sides of the table. The boards will
already be pre-drilled for the location of the legs. 4 Braces are
installed the same as the 6’ tables.
Diagonal Braces: Two diagonal braces are supplied with each Maine Attraction table (two-tier and octagon tables have 6 each) to attach to the underside of legs that are exposed to carts or heavy foot traffic. They brace the legs from being knocked at an angle. Most applications have only a few exposed corners therefore only 2 braces are supplied per table. Outside exposed corner legs should have both braces attached to that leg. Extra braces will be supplied on request for no charge if requested. Legs that are not exposed to carts or kicking seldom require braces. One or two braces may be attached to a leg.
